Estíbaliz is a Loader Operator at the Aguas Teñidas mine at Sandfire MATSA.
Born in Aguafría (Almonaster), Estíbaliz started her career in mining as a cleaner. Her interest in the mining industry quickly grew, and in 2024 Estíbaliz decided to enrol in the MATSA Underground Loader and Bolter Training course, which provides an entry level pathway into mining for members of the local community.
Estíbaliz has been able to apply the practical skills she learned to a new role at Sandfire and is passionate about her work and the contribution she makes to the MATSA team.
Outside of work, Estíbaliz enjoys spending time in her village, Aguafría, which she describes as “tranquil”. Estíbaliz enjoys going for walks with her children and makes sure she takes time out of her day to nurture her love of reading.
